Opening Ceremonies..Good, Bad, Ok ? Your thoughts please

So what does everyone think of the Opening Ceremonies of the Salt Lake 2002 winter games? and why do you think that?

Personally I think they came off great. I'm proud to be a Utahn and am excited to host the world in my backyard

I thought they were fantastic. But I thought the TV coverage could have been better.

Mntsnow, you gonna take in any of the events?

Would you please send me a gross of the free condoms? And visit the French consulate and toss back a couple on me. I was born and raised in Utah. Lived there for my first 40 years and I have concluded that Utah is a good place to be from.. Utah made me pay state income taxes while I was in Viet Nam serving in the USAF. Since then I have been kind of sour about the state. And I don't even want to start any religious controversy. Why Park City when Alta or Brighton seems more winter olympic kind of a setting to me? It should certainly be more challenging to skiers, etc. I am really glad I haven't had to put up with driving any where within 50 miles of downtown SLC during the last 4 years. I guess every locale has its problems. I have just been happier since I left. I do have some great childhood memorys(sp). My folks had a cabin above Kamas on the road to Mirror Lake. Great winters there. Sounds like that is pretty much gone now. Sorry Mtnsnow. Didn't mean to rain on your happy times. Utah does have its good things.

Hey Mntsnow,
I went to the Dress Rehearsal of the opening ceremonies, my sister is in the Olympic band and got a bunch of free tics.
It was awesome, but the tv coverage was definitely not as good.
They really were unable to show everything that was going on, and they also had to take out a few things for time, that I missed a bit.
And yes, we froze our butts off. 5 hours in sub-freezing temperatures got to us, even though we had dressed fairly warm.
my $.02
