Gaming BEWARE OF THIS (possible) RIPOFF!!!

I received an ***IMPORTANT NOTICE*** in the mail from Domain registry of America, it looked like a bill saying my domain was up for renewal (it expires in April) so I throw it on my desk to deal with next check writing session---upon closer exam it isnt the folks I registered it with originally (GoDaddy for 9$ a year) these people want 25$ to renew my domain and I have no idea who they are?
Reading the fine print it says "this is not a bill but an easy means of renewing your domain with us"---so basically im giving them the OK to tranfer my domain and be charged 3 times as much---glad I looked closer I almost just paid it...

Kind of sneaky if you ask me...

I recall getting something like that from a company using Sprint's logo, but the letterhead was printed in black and white instead of the normal colored logo Sprint uses.

They were warning me that my credit card had expired and if I didn't provide them with my new credit card number, my telephone service (they knew my account number) would be cut off. Only problem is, I have ALWAYS paid my phone bill by CHECK after they send me a monthly statement in the mail. When I contacted Sprint, they gave some garbage about that company being the service that collects from the people who chose to have their phone bill automatically payed by CC.

IMO, Sprint gave account info to this company knowing full well that they were going to try to scam customers into changing their payment method to one that was more convenient for THEM. I threw the warning notice in the trash and continued to pay by check.

Now that I think about it furthur it could be a good thing---some people pay 60$ and more yearly for registrar privileges---Domain Registry of America charges 25$---but how many unsuspecting low payers (like me, 9$ a year) unsuspectingly pay a premium due to the nature of this snailmail letter???

Legal it may be---its easy for them to get your registrar info and send a letter to you---Registrar of America is making lots of money on unsuspecting people randomly sending out letters such as this---sucks if you ask me---
