Is this cool or what...

My last system was a dual P3 933 system... I sold it for like $450 because I wanted to build a machine better geared for gaming - which is a Duron 1.0 GHz system. Well, I sold my last system on eBay... and UPS f***ed up. The same day I sent out the computer, we also had an RMA monitor to send back to KDS out in Cali. So what actually happened was for some reason UPS throwed the computer with the monitor and shipped 'em both off to KDS... but we didn't know this. UPS tried to trace the computer, and couldn't find it, so they paid up on the insurance, why I used to refund the buyer who'd purchased the computer.

And here last night I get a call from KDS. They've got this computer that was sent to them by <insert our company name here> and they have no idea why. Yep, you guessed it... the machine I sold. They want to know, should they destroy it or send it back? Hehe, easy answer here... SEND IT BACK!!! So I get this $450 computer back for the price of shipping!!!

So now I got my fingers crossed, hoping nothing gets fouled up.

Whoa! Lucky you. Too bad that deal didn't go through as planned, but at least you've got your comp back.

Dude that is so damn cool! I'll bet you thought this was a nightmare at first, didn't you? Sometimes you get surprised for the good.

BTW a 1Gz duron is better at gaming that a dualie 933? I don't know jack about dual processor systems or what advantages they offer. Owning one, I'm sure you'd know better than I.

Man, you can say that again. It was awful!

Yep. For starters, I use Win98 for gaming, since WinXP always has some problems with some of my games - just not as smooth either. Win98 doesn't use the second CPU at all. And even if you do use a dual processor OS, any give program/game will use just one CPU. What the OS does is try to divide the running programs up between the two cpus as evenly as possible, so your game is still just using one of 'em (or so I've been told). I had both 933s OCd to 1030, but since you can't change the multiplier on any P3s, that's all the higher I could even get the system to post at. My Duron on the other hand runs just fine at 1173, and an AMD already gives more computing power per megahertz, so the P3 is sadly outclassed. Nevertheless, it's still a sweet system - especially for $25!

Er, maybe I'm missing something, but it sounds to me like you've got a little Ethical dilemma here...

Well, I thought about that... but it doesn't really seem like it to me. The only person who loses money here is UPS... and they're the ones who caused the mix-up in the first place. They're just paying for their own mistake. Maybe I'm wrong here, but somehow I don't feel bad about grabbing this chance.

Honestly even if UPS found out you were getting the computer back I don't think they would do anything about it. Like you said they made the mistake and you did not know about it till after the fact. Enjoy!!
