A question.... help needed, bad habits

Ok, Here's my problem. when i'm asleep, if someone tries to wake me up.... i'm crabby... like, i'll yell 'n scream at them sometimes.... I don't mean too... and i don't remember doing this.....

Take for instance...
this weekend, i fell asleep on the couch...
at about 3:30 in the morning, my g/f woke up, and i wasn't there, so she came out and woke me up(or so she though) to get me to come to bed. We were walkin to the bedroom, and apparently she wasn't walking fast enough or somethin, and i yelled at her to move....

not cool.

i've always kinda talked in my sleep...and made sense.... really pist some boss's off.... "yeah, i'll come in early, i'll be there in about 20 minutes.."...... (then i show up when i was sopposed to and get ripped on for not comin in early when i said i would... when i was asleep) tech support in my sleep.... wierd stuff...... but, when someone tries to wake me up... i'm not a nice person.

I don't know what to do.... any idea's?

I talk in my sleep on occasion. Apparently it's pretty humorous. Someone will call me after I've gone to bed and the next morning I'll remeber it as a dream but with no idea as to what I said. They won't tell me of course because that would spoil the fun .

I have not found a way to avoid the entertainment value I apparently provide. Can't disconnect the phone because I am convinced my dad will have a heart attack the minute I do.

I just want to find a way so that i'm not such a bastard.... cuz, I don't like that fact that she's scared to wake me up...... and i don't like that fact that she said "at least you don't hit me" ..... ..... cuz, yeah, that sucked, that sucked bad..... :-(

I don't think there is anything you can do other than explain it to her. It's kind of out of your control because your still basically asleep.

With regard to answering the phone in your sleep how about putting the phone in a place where you have to get up to answer it. much harder to stay asleep when you have to get up. I had to do this with my alarm clock years ago when I went through a phase of turning it off in my sleep. Even hid it one night but took a little to long to find it in the morning

For the other thing well how about trying to get some more sleep so you don't fall asleep on the couch etc. Not much advice but all I have on it.

Dunno about the crabby part......I can't even get up in the mornings correctly.....
I have 3 alarm clocks, all set 30-45 minutes ahead, and two cell phones that are set for alarm....just to get me up in the morning...I usually sleep through the first 30 minutes of buzzing and obnoxious radio noise before finally barely getting me awake....
I have not found anything to help me get up.......

lol, i've got the worlds most annoying alarm.... with 2 alarms built in...... it's got this wierd oscilating whine/buzz/shriek ... but i sleep through it.... plus the cell phone,

i'm just really bothered by the "at least my b/f doesn't hit me" thing...... and it's understandable.... i'd be scared to if some guy is pist at me and starts yellin at me cuz i'm apparently not walking fast enough.....

but it's not just falling asleep on the couch...
it's whenever she tries to wake me up.....

:-( i told her to just clock me if i yelled at her.... she won't though.....

Get tested for 2 things.

1. ADD
2. Hypersomnia/narcolepsy(sp)?

Used to have same symptoms. Talk very coherently to others but never remember any of it. sit upright, clear eyed make full conversations and never have any idea it ever happened.

Also would sleep upwards of 14 hrs if left alone.

Sleep at any given chance.

Never complete any projects, get sidetracked very easily.

Chronic fatigue, legs hurt to walk up steep stairs.

Many of the questions during the six week hospital study made NO sense UNTIL medication took hold and I realized what "normal" people feel like.

Illegal drug usage will nullify any of the testing procedures.

The tests last from 2-1/2 to 4 hours per day, three days a week. This goes on for 6 full weeks, I hope you have medical insurance.

Also your Dr must 'refer" you to the Dr who is known as a neuropsychologist.

The medications for these are;

1. Adderall
2. Dextrostat

These are "stimulants" and cannot be used by people with;

1. High blood pressure
2. Liver disease
3. People under treatement for depresssion
and several other factors.

My B/P actually dropped after starting the medication.

I was sleeping upwards of 14 hrs per day(when single)

The medication has "additives" to limit overusage, you MUST eat even if you don't want to.

When my diagnosis came back at age 42, I felt like I'd been given a second chance at life.
Before the barrell of a .44 looked very much like a friend .

most sincerely
DrVette

I used to consider sleeping a hobby that was cheap and could take up lots of time.....

There is a delicate balance of enough meds and too much.

Too much and your head feels like you're wearing a hat much too tight.

I suggest going to the library and getting a PDR(Physicians Desk Reference)and looking up Adderall, Dextrostat.

I forget the technical term for them,, if you find it make sure to check out all the "contradictions"

Like dry mouth, this that and the other.

Lastly, resist the desire to tell others about your condition.

The will;

1. Assume your a whip and need meds cuz you're a sissy.
2. Think this is the same as "Crazy"
3. When they realize what you're taking, they'll steal it or try to talk you out of some.

This ain't no easy road, but dammit it's better than sleeping your life away and waking up tired.
