It isn't so bad. I had two done already. In the worst scenario the doc might accidentally leave something in your tooth, like a drill bit (happened to my sister) .

I've just come from the dentist tonight after visit number six over four months. I had an abscess under a tooth, then half the tooth cracked out completely. I'm still in the process of getting it fixed. No pain, though as the nerves are dead. My dentist can drill and ream that tooth and socket with no juice needed. Makes for quicker recovery as no numb mouth. Only two more visits to go and then she'll cap it for good.
Pain from the abscess was worse than any pain I've ever had from dental work, needles or not. So get it done and over with amdkt7 before you get an abscess like mine; it has taken 4 four months to get rid of it to the stage where I can get the tooth restored.

I got to put it off!

Doc took xrays, rapped and tapped, ground a little more off to improve the bite and gave me antibiotics to take for a week.

He said, "If it was my tooth I would try this first".

That's one reason I like my Doc. I think I can trust him to not try to make lots of money.

He sounds like a good guy...but I imagine that if it goes bad in the middle of the night, you're going to have some entirely different terms regarding his intelligence, ancestry, personal habits, etc....

don't mind me...just makin' trouble!

Root canals aren't that bad...I've had two already (too much Coke and Gummy Bears...mmmm). The only thing that hurt was that freezing needle!!!! I'm TERRIFIED of needles!!! Not that I look forward to sitting in the dentists chair for an hour +....even my wisdom teeth weren't that bad (no swelling or pain).

I need to go to the dentist soon and get my wisdom teeth pulled out, apparently they are pushing the other teeth aside and it causes considerable pain.

Just not sure when to go to have it done

No time like the present, as they say, club. Get it over and done with asap. Just make that call! You'll feel better for it I'm sure!

You can have a giggle: Tell him you don't want any painkillers, for religious reasons:

You want to Transcend Dental Medication!

Root Canals are no big deal unless your roots are curved. Then it takes the dentist like a year of digging to get the nerves out.
