Superbowl Nat'l Anthem letdown..
Ok, anyone else feel let-down by the choice of Mariah Carey to sing the Star Spangled Banner? Usually the rousing singing of the SSB will leave me in tears, since I love the ideals of this country, and appreciate live performance music (regardless of style) and the energy and feeling that can go into it.
It was fine, but, just... fine. Why didn't they get that NYC firefighter to sing it (can't think of his name)? His voice is phenominal, and there would be very few dry eyes in the place just because of the association!
I do like how the Pats were introduced as a team, though. The NFL, and pro sports in general need more of that. Badly.
Oh well.. as Wayne and Garth used to say.. "Game on!"
PS How much did Mariah's label pay her to cancel her contract and just go away? Over $10 million? hahahaha Super Bowl organizers mabye should've taken note...

I think she looked fine and sounded great as well did McCartney (this music is all "canned" right?) but ive only heard/seen her perform a couple times---seemed like a straightforward rendition with out all the vocal "add-on's" that sometimes makes the song not so great...

Ughh..
Ugh..
Well, at least she looks like she's doing better now.. she had it pretty rough for a while with all of her personal issues, though.
I don't wish that one anyone.
(If I have to listen to an overpaid diva, I'd rather have it be Whitney Houston... now THAT girl can really belt it out.)

No ,The music was great !
What I don't care for Is the use of the flag in clothing. I Find that to be disrepectful to the flag and country.
(and I think bono is just a little to stuck on himself , but that's another story.)

I thought U2 put on a great show!
Usually I don't bother much with the halftime show but this was worth watching!

I thought the flag in the jacket was superb on Bono's part! U2 gave an excellent show and that was his way of showing his support for the USA! I thought it was excellent. |

So to celebrate our national pride, we feature a British pop singer, an Irish pop group and a just-out-of-rehab pop girl? OK, Paul McCartney and U2 were very good, but still, we can't find any real talent for the National Anthem? Must everything be a sell-out to pop culture?

I gotta admit, the half-time show called for something truly USA, country music, Garth Brooks or any other dude in a cowboy hat singing "God Bless the USA".
