AM Antenna boost for a Walkman?

I want to improve the AM reception on my walkman. The station (1120) fades out in certain parts of the building. I would also like to reduce the static.

Ideally I would like to find something like the Induction antennas for cell phones that stick on under the battery. Will that type of antenna work with an AM radio? I suspect it won't.

Maybe I could build something into the case. I've seen instructions for a WiFi antenna that I could probably fit inot the Walkman, but will it work for AM? I imagine anything I connect to the internal antenna will improve reception some, but how do I do it "right"

Broadcast AM is a mediumwave transmission medium. The antennas you propose are entirely too short to serve any meaninful purpose on such low frequencies. On a walkman, there is not much you can do. On a dedicated AM radio, you could use an inverted dipole or longwire antenna.
