got online atlast

Over 250,000 people in Kansas lost power, phones and internet late last night as the ice storm we had was taking lines down faster than they could put them back up. Three towns right next to were I live still have no power as a major power plant went ofline due to the storm but they are going to get powered up sometime tomarrow if all goes well. I got my power back on early this morning but my internet provider get'd it conection from Kansas City and a lot of the city still has no power but luckly the provider of the internet is up now about 30 mins ago I spent about 6hrs breaking thru the ice(about 5" thick) in my drive way about 20' long by about 10' wide so I could get the wifes car in and out since it's up hill she would of slid into the street and never would have been able to make it back up. I barely made it up in my 4wd had to drive half way off the drive with one set of tires in what is supposed to be my grass but more like a sheet of ice.

We got lucky here in monett mo. the storm went mostly north of us, we got a lot of rain, and now it's very cold outside, but we didn't get any snow ice or anything like that. Glad to hear everything is getting back to normal there.

I only had one huge branch break off about 14" dia so I will have to cut it up tomarrow, to tired today after that drive.

Fine and sunny here in Australia but in Adelaide (where I live) our summer has been very lame. We only had about 3 days where the temp was 'bloody hot' but normally we get 6-10 days in a row of 'sheesh hot' (over 38C/100F) 3 or 4 times each summer.

Summer isn't over yet and I know that with little over 100 years of weather data it's guesswork at best as to wether the weather patterns are changing, but it sure feels like it to me.

Why don't you all come down here for a spell to thaw out?
