Erector Sets!! They had Erector Sets! Man, that was the best EVER!!
I had a modest set the Grandfather started me with, and I'd save my allowance and send off to the Gilbert Co. for more parts, which took 27 years and 14 minutes to arrive in the mail!

I had erector sets. The boys have Lego, though I feel Erectors were better as they were metal. Electric motors, winches, real tyres, ......every kids fantasy.
