Okay, here's the deal:
Compaq Presario 4550
4.3g HDD ISA hardware Modem
64mhzRAM on AD-6 processor

Everytime I boot this up, it loses the connection setting on Earthlink. So I drop that, go back to 'Desktop' , open up 'my computer', go C drive, go to Windows, to 'Temp files', delete al cookies, close, open up 'temp', delete everything in there, go back to ....

Ooops, it's the wife. brb.

Whattya know, it's a boy.

Anyway, so I go back to desktop, drop down to the Start button (after clearing the recycle bin,) and that's where I'm faced with the decision...re-start...or shut down?

Also, I'm trying to save energy...does this thing HAVE to be plugged in?

Unless you have one of those new wireless power supplies, it has to be plugged in while it's running.

No, wait, you could get a UPS and charge it somewhere else, then bring it home and run off of that for a while. Ummm, what was the question again??

or you could do a quick shutdown
when you click shutdown and click yes hold Shift? (think so) and it will only do a partial reboot much faster

you could pull a fester and just plug the wire into your mouth and voila you have juice
