Kids digital image orbs, are they real?

My father had just gotten a new digital camera and had taken some pictures over Christmas. When he showed me the pictures there were these bright circles of light all over them. he didn't notice them but they were different colors and sizes and opaqueness.
It got my attention and tried to research more about this and I came along a website that shows what I saw in my father's pictures.
What I want to find out is if these pictures can be proven fake!
Are you up for the challenge!
Can you explain this to me please to ease my eagerness to know what can cause these "orbs"!
Has anyone ever had these in there pictures?

That rod thing is another whole topic but I am trying to figure out a reson how these things can be made.
They don't show up on video either and you can't see them by naked eye. Maybe they only show up on a single frame.
And photos that are taken in sececation they are in different places.

It is very weird. I wonder what could cause this to happen, with a digital camera no less. There isn’t any developing film to blame and the spots ( orbs ) show up in different areas of the picture frame for each photo. I would just think that this is all made up but I have seen them too and cant figure out a way to rationalize why they appear. Anyone maybe have a scientific/technical reason for this that they know of?

( man this thread reminds me of some I have read back in the days of the "Brainstorming Session" forum, I liked that name )

Yep I remember that forum... never went there, didn't think I was smart enough LOL

maybe it really is just an artifact of the image.

Unfortunately I am not a photo guy so can't help much there.

My ex g/f was actually a (dont laugh lol) "UFOologist" or whatever they call them... we tried filming to get the "rods" but failed

Never owned a digital camera so have never tried that one though!
www.mufon.org see if there is any info there...

Maybe it was a drop of moisture deposited on the camera lens?

What about a piece of pollen attached to the lens ?

or maybe like BBA stated a drop of water or moisture

I don't believe in ghosts and such, and figure there is a reasonable explainaton, although I have yet to hear one, but I do sometimes look at sites about them, open for answers

That’s what I thought too but the spots show up in different areas of the photo for pictures taken one after an another, if it was a spot on the lens then all the pictures should have orbs in the same spots in each picture but they don’t.

I haven’t checked out those links yet but I am usually a skeptical person when it comes to this type of stuff and it has got my curiosity now so I will be checking them out shortly
