Airline Handlers STEAL your stuff !

This has been documented more than once on the Dateline type TV shows, however it's happened close to home this time.

A good friend bought his family a Digital camera from me for Christmas. Complete with all the goodies, bag, NiMH batteries, Card reader, extra CF card , the whole ball of wax.

They too a trip to Detroit on ****** Arline company and upon their return, the prized digital camera was MISSING from the luggage.

Several calls to the airline company got them an "I'm sorry for your loss, but regulations do not allow us to guarantee the belongings inside your luggage"

His homeowner insurance deductable is about the same as the cost of the camera

So, If you do travel,, CARRY IT ON WITH YOU !!

One of the sick parts of it is, is that if it's happened to this guy once - it's probably happened COUNTLESS times before by the same criminal.

They showed a hidden camera at an airport where some jackA** was going through luggage and stuffing items in his shirt.

I think baggage handlers ought to be "Bonded" to help curtail such activity.

This is tantamount to personal invasion, IMHO..

It's not the first time I heard something like this from an airport in Detroit.

Why would anybody put valuables in luggage?

Why wasn't it locked?

I think we have to be carefull with our things, and while it was wrong what happened to him, I don't think he thought things out too well...
Stuff happens, what if his bag had been dropped and run over by the plane backing up, then rained on because no one saw it, then run over by the truck coming out to see what it was, then sat on by the guy taking it into the building....
Same result...

Out of millions of pieces of luggage, how do these guys figure out where the expensive stuff is?

X-Ray? Type of luggage? Expensive... Or just take a chance...

I'd carry laptops/cameras/cash, anything expensive or irreplaceable on person.

This sux!

Unfortunately, it happens frequently.

One TV investigation in Florida showed handlers picking or cutting the typical locks used on suit cases.

I carry anything valuable with me, including prescription medications. Some folks will steal anything, then find out what it is later. I, for one, cannot be stuck somewhere without meds.

For those of you who are well, be sure to be grateful!!
