Don't every member put a post here.

I see that other thread that asks everyone to post 5 times growing and growing...

As a systems professional, doing something like that sure is amateurish, irresponsible and shows the level of computing knowledge that person has.

In the real world, stuff like that brings down servers and networks because someone decided to "hey, send this to all your friends or lets see how many people can forward this attachment"
What a waste of resources.

I thought that all at TechIMO were beyond that.

someone already brought it up and people said he was complaining

i see it as spam, but thats just me. other forums don't tolerate the "post here thread" but they let you get away with other threads

See, if it has some sort of point and is funny to some extent, no matter how random it is, it's ok with me. But when it is simply "post here" for absolutely no point and it isn't funny......that's when I don't mind a mod closing it.

I dont care to contribute to the referred post but I dont mind them having fun either. You can generally tell from the subject if it interests you.

I dont think we have to worry about "bringing the servers down" with a single post.

If you wish to remain serious and technical all the time then I reccommend you stay out of the Community Forum since its design is to be layed back, off topic and to let loose.

I am not condemming you just giving my 2 cents.

The only thing I ask for people to realize that "pyramid" or "chain-letter" posts do nothing but give a headache to the person that is responsible for keeping the whole thing going.

I admit I the "hamster" thread was fun to read and I'm all for it, but to just balloon a thread to see if the server can run out of space is ridiculous, and in a different light malicious.

Compute in moderation, act responsibly.

I think it's ok in moderation, but sometimes the number of 'fun' threads starts to increase, that's when it starts to get a little annoying.

But then again we are all free NOT to post in such threads if we don't like them.

For some people it's just a way of letting off some steam, dealing with something non-serious and harmless, quite understandable.

I think the modersators and administrators are doing a very good job here at TechIMO.
