Both sites have been separated, but parts are still hosted by the same provider. I am not up to date on the RR backend config, but I would suspect the site slows down because a server (or servers) falls out of the redundant network, thus forcing more load onto the remaining servers in the grid.

It's weird, I don't cruise around RR much, but I'm seeing members that post around here that I used to see post much more at TIMO.
