Anyone noticed that in most threads, there are approximately 10 times more views than replies?

Translated, only one in ten post a reply.

Conclusions:

1) 90% of those who read are "shy"
2) They don't care
3) They have nothing to add

Any other conclusions?

Could it be that 90% are just trying to learn which reading is often how you learn anything on the net.

It could also be that 90% don't know the soloution and don't feel like filling the thread with rubbish

could also be some people have answered the same question in the past multiple times and just don't feel like answering the question again, but didn't know what it was based on the topic.

could be 1 person coming back to the thread to see if someone replied to the question.

There are millions of reasons but the basic being you can just read to learn, without saying thank you for letting you read it.

To speculate on that ratio you would have figure out also how many of those viewswere people checking on and following that particular thread. The ratio might be 10-1 or as low as 4-1. I know that if a thread interests me enough to post I usually check when I see that the post count has changed.

Personally, I think that most of the views that aren't replies are people trying to learn. If I see a thread that adresses and issue that I can't solve I definately check back plenty of times till I find out the solution. This forum is a great resource for learning as well.
