If you could, would you put clean renewable energy above national defense???

Obviously, there is only so much money to go around, if you had to decide where to invest $10 billion dollars, would you choose cheap clean energy, medical research, defense, or other?

I can't say as I'd sink that much into any ONE of them.

Can't I just throw the money up in the air and see who picks it up?

I definately think clean air is a worthwhile cause, I live near WashDC and I forgot what a true blue sky looked like until I went up to northern Ontario. Its not even greyish blue, or even mostly blue... its BLUE up there!! lol

I miss that, and wish I could easily get it back.
However, (this is why I'm not in politics ) I'd find it hard to soak it all into one.

I'd put it all into reasearch & development of a time-machine.

Only Ten Billion Dollars?

This country spends more than One Billion Dollars each year on microwave popcorn!

Anyway, as long as there are declared enemies, National Defense is a top priority.

he sold the patent and no one know what happened to the invention.

Completely Agree.

What good is clean energy if we dont have a country to use it in?

Ditto... the people of this country can "chose" to do more for clean air than the govn't can likely do through regulation anyway.

Spend it to defend our American lifestyle.

BTW... the patent on that "water burning engine" has expired, so the technology is no longer protected... now if it only worked ...

There already is a considerable 'national defense' in America, is there not?

What good is defending a country that has no fuel to run its' business etc. etc. etc. (talking long term here, but that was not mentioned in the original post).

With a free source of clean energy, you would have no requirement for foreign oil. There would be no money going to your 'enemies' just because you like cheap gas & use a lot of it. They would not be able to buy more weapons and yours are already superior, so you could still shaft 'em if they tried anything funny. Your supply of wonderful clean & free energy would be in DEMAND all over the world. You would be able to SELL it to PAY for any type of national defense you desired.

Buy one get one free, or buy two and one's going to run out anyway.

Long term vs. short term

EDIT: you'd be able to research the cure for cancer with all the revenues too, so it's buy one get two free
