"Nonsense" posts have their place in my life, for a bit of fun, but I will agree when I'm looking for computer help they can crowd out the useful stuff in the forum sometimes...
... maybe what we need is not only a separate forum for community posts, but also that they don't make an entry in the list of current posts, so you actively have to seek them...
... that would prevent them being annoying to those seeking help, and those looking only to provide help...
...would this work do you think??
edit: naughty, naughty sureal - name calling not allowed here.. hehe | |

nice avatar surreal
Oh wait... doh unrelated post...
I guess it depends... in community you have to kind of expect it. However, there are times in the other forums where people will pipe in something small to increase their posts. I've seen threads where a new thread comes up (still in the recent posts list, so not a bump) somebody will reply "I dont know, anybody else"?
That kind of post is annoying.

I suppose it would depend upon your definition of "nonsense"
For one, I do NOT open the "Don't open this thread" type of post, I work for a Communist dictatorship of Ex Hitler youth and " I Obey without Question" or get SHOT |

Well I think all apply so I voted for other....In community basically any kind of post goes. Its a good place to post questions or updates or whatever for the TechIMO family in general. I find i learn alot about my fellow TechIMO family through community.
I agree that I have seen some people just type up a I don't know anyone else? when its in the recent post list. Only time I ever do this is when i been browsing thorugh and I see a post that has gone unanswered in a couple of days. its rare but I will bump it In order to catch some other members attention for that person even If i have no advise to give. Or if i seen a couple of respondes to a thread and no results, sometimes I will bump it if it interestes me enough to bump.
The areas I am not intersted I just plain don't visit that forum, its a choice, I tend to be in Community, Tech Support, General Tech, Software Design, Operating systems and Aps. and a couple of others.
I like TechIMO just the way it is. Great place to be.

Yes and no.
I think I'm leaning more towards "no" because it fits with my sense of humor.
BUT, repeat random threads, such as 'do not enter', blahblahblah get old.
LETS BE ORIGINAL PEOPLE
Word Association IS original, BUT it's one of those threads that grows sooooooooooo fast, only people with an infinite amount of time on their hands would bother to read it all, hence making it pointless IMO

Answer to the question- NO. Quote: |
Word Association IS original,
| Yes, but the whole purpose is to be witty/funny. Someone puts "China" replies are: Great Wall, Peking, ......yawn.
Then again, if the replies were: Fu Man Choo (But many man smoke ) ,, THEN it gets thought provoking.
If you get my drift.

That would be like reading a scrabble board during play! I only look at the last post and then post - thought that was what to do!?!
