Shaving mustache: yes or no?

I am 17 and I want to shave my mustache.
My mustache is getting to a point where its bothering me because I know this isn't the real me anymore, I know I will look a lot better without my mustache, a lot better. But my mom wont let me because she keeps on telling me that I will regret it. She says I can start shaving when im like 20 something which i think is crazy.

Questions: After shaving for the first time will it grow back quickly? and after that say a year later will it be worse?
my mustache is really super smooth like when u feel it, you dont know its there but when you look at it, it sort of stands out of course. And my mustache has more hair on the sides of it like whiskers. funny huh. And my chin is hairish too. When do you guys think I should start shaving? is my mom right? or is there another way of shaving where i can shave like once a month and it wont grow back and be like hard? I would appreciate any type of help and I hope this will help the younger people in time who will pass by in need of help and will find this post.

Oh and i asked me doctor and he said that its a myth, so if you shave when your 20 something, your hair will still grow back the same way as the person who shaved at the age of 17. so it dont matter when you shave.
And Chillette Mach 3 is very good to shave.

Shave it. If you don't like how it turns out, grow it back. Listen to yourself and decide.

Yes, that's perfectly normal. Your rate of hair growth is not as dependent on shaving as it is on genetics. Shaving is a manly art that you do need to get used to sooner or later. As for how you look, that's up to you.
