Are Miss USA Pageants fixed?

I think that the Miss USA and Miss Teen USA pageants are fixed! Having been a long-time observer of these "scholarship pageants", I noticed that after the 1st round of eliminations, the same states always seem to end up in the final 10 or 15. We always seem to see California, Hawaii, Texas, one or both of the Carolinas, Oregon, New York, Georgia, etc.

Why is that? Is it because some of those states mentioned have the highest populations, and therefore run more local & regional competitions before finally arriving at the state level? Could be. Or not.

Let's look at who wins these things. It's not a matter of (I think) has the best body. I think it's the person who will represent the sponsors the best and get them the most money. I wonder if the Donald has a say in the winner. Maybe the judges are not really judges at all. Maybe their votes don't matter.

probably fixed in the sense that there is some sort of political type agenda..or at least fixed as far as "this will be good for the pegeant if this state or that state wins"
