Tech Environmentalist...

Yall know about Bush's war on terrorism outside of the country right?... Ok good, but what about the terrorist right here in the good old US of A yeah that's right I'm talking about them F***ing D***-a**treehugging B****'s... The Enviromentalist *guess Bush wouldnt do anything about them because he's one of THEM!* Those so call'ed nature protector's care for the tree's more then they do us human's like right here in little Kalispell Montana they set fire to some logging truck's and got away with it I mean come on people are we gonna take much more of this? They want to stop all logging here in the US of A and when that happen's this once beautiful country is gonna burn down because the forest need logger's to take out alot of the tree's otherwise they will just go up like the 4th of July and my dad will be outa work to because he's a logger. How are you gonna feel when they stop the logging and therefore have no toilet paper to wipe you're A**'s huh? Oh what about school's when they got no paper for writing with? and what the bloody hell are we gonna live in? cardboard boxes... wait those are made out wood to, I guess we will have to live in houses made outa concrete or rock's God that's gonna be cold in the winter time... Last summer about half of glaceir park burnt down because of our D***-A** city mayor wouldnt let the logger;s go up there and take some tree's out to stop the bloody thing and now that there are no tree's left on the mountain and hill side's there's gonna be major runoff because there is no tree root's holding the dirt in place, there's gonna be mudslide's galore all over the Park. They are trying *and they have been pretty succesful at this* to close all of the road's that go up in the mountain's I mean what kinda country are we living in when we cant even take a scenic drive up into the mountain's? People are so fat nowaday's that they can't hike up into the mountain's so why not let them drive? Most actor's in holywood tosay are in with the Enviromentalist to like Peirce Brosnon and Eddie Murphy ugghhh those two make me SICK! did yall see Dr Doolittle 2 that movie was DISGUSTING!... I think I have said my peice now please comment and vote

Toilet paper is not a big problem. leaves work pretty good. You could also use a washcloth. Kids with out paper what will we do. Well perhaps those little whiteboards that you have on the old frige, or save the document to a floppy. Mudslides are not so bad either, creates jobs by increasing re-construction.

First, i would like to say that even if the us stop loggin completely (which is doubtful) there will be no shortage of paper. The us can export paper from

I think those measures are extreme and unpractical. Acutally, nature uses fires and natural disasters to renew and control itself. I would think that loggin does more damage than forest fires, which occur only during mid-late summer. And some trees acuatlly need extreme high temperatures to germinate.

I know you're very angry that the glacier park was burnt, but loggin causes more destruction and it takes a lot more time to recuperate than after fires.

Darn, missed my first post again....

anyways, funny, save the document to a floppy (you found a conncetion to the forum! )

Mudslides are bad...specially if you're smart enough to build your house next to a mountain. Here, its a real problem.specially with so many mountains. Construction companies getting rid of trees and building on top of a hill... and the houses below..

Oh and I know that toilet paper and paper aint a big problem. Yall wanna her a story it's true by the way. Ok here go's... My uncle went to some kinda meeting-he's a big anti-enviro-and well there was this enviro lady speaking there about shutting down all logging and he asked her "How are you gonna wipe you're prissy ass if you shut down the logging and therefore have no toilet paper" that witch's face grew so red that he said she almost passed out but she stalked off of the podium before she did... Did any of you people here about that crazy lady that was living up in that big huge tree so people couldnt cut it down? she was up there for about a year didn't come down once and when she finnally did she noticed somebody had cut the tree in half and she stood there hugging and crying over that... nonsentiant Tree! good-god what is this world coming to? my grandpa said they shoulda just cut it down with her in it hehe And I agree with him...

I would have to say that I'm against logging, but only on the massive scale employed by many of the large transnational wood companies (Abitibi Consolidated, Weyerhauser, et al.) I recognize the fact that there is a need for products derived from wood, but clear cutting a forest is not the answer.

Thargon, I think your Dad has the right approach to logging. It's unfortunate that business relies on economies of scale, which rules out the approach taken by your father.

Hmm, that's funny.

In this region, the best way to ensure a good mixture of quality species (and not just red maple/sourwood/sassafras) is to clearcut the forest in medium/small patches and then burn the remainder.

Yet I consider myself an environmentalist. Strange.

And people who say we could stop all logging and import our timber and pulp are just saying we should dump off our tricky issues on countries too poor to have a choice or police the actions of industry and individuals.

People think forests are somehow static, but it's SO wrong. They're constantly changing. And most people's ideas are what were here when Europians got to this country. Also SO wrong, as (in my part of the country), American Indians had already been burning the forests for 100's if not 1000's of years.
