End of the road for Oldsmobile

The last Oldsmobile will roll off the assembly line tomorrow.

Neither I nor anyone my family ever owned an Olds. Anyone else have a good story about one?

Michigan had its way with that car in a bad way

We had an Alero. Probably the best "new" car Olds made. Been hearing lots of things about the team that took over the Olds division. Seems they messed up the Olds name with their decisions and designs etc.

My coworker still drives his gutless Cutlass as he calls it. It's old, (like early 80's, maybe late 80's old) and everything inside is computerized! Most of it doesn't work anymore, but it was cool to see.

Some folks credit the first true Rock 'n' Roll song to be "Rocket 88" by Ike Turner (1950 or so). Back then, the Olds was the shiznit for the right combination of creature comfort and git-n-go. My granddad had a couple of them and he'd take us careening around the Ozark mountains like a moonshiner.

These days, except for the Alero.....eeeehh.

Back in the day, Oldsmobiles were the test line for Cadillacs. A lot of nifty features would be tested on Olds before issued on a Cadillac. The front wheels Toronado came out before the similar El Dorado. I thought it was niftier.

Olds used to have stronger parts than Chevy. It wasn't uncommon to run Chevys with Pontiac or Olds rear ends!

Just replaced a $#%&^@ waterpump on a 92 Olds 98 ( doesn't that confuse the heck outta the parts guys ). Supercharged engines are a pain, but man does it have power along with the creature comforts!

The old Old's were good, but recently they just look like a sack of crap, and perform the same.

I say good riddance, and maybe some more GM divisions will follow the fate of the Oldsmobile.

Yea I can tell you about oldsmobiles. Here are the ones I've owned.
83 Cutlass Supreme
84 Cutlass Supreme
86 Cutlass Ciera Holiday Coupe
88 Delta 88 Royale Brougham
95 Delta 88 Royale
I was raised in a Ford/Lincoln/Mercury family. But got a deal on the 1st Cutlass Supreme and was so pleased with it that I bought many more. I still have the 95 Delta 88 which I bought new in the fall of 94. All of them were fan f...... tastic cars. A few months back we [wife & I] bought a cherry 2002 Ford Winstar mini-van. The Winstar sits in the driveway and we drive the Olds everywhere. It gets about 27 mpg, not bad for a big old car. I never spent 10 cents on any of them other than tires and brakes. We will miss Oldsmobile.
