I just heard this on NPR's Only a Game sports show. The 2006 World Cup will be in Germany, and Anheuser-Busch is a sponsor. They will not allow any local brews to be sold at the matches. As a guy on the show said, "Great idea. Take fans of a sport where they're prone to riot in the best of circumstances, and make 'em drink Bud Light!"

The horror!

I submit that this constitutes cruel and unusual punishment.

Oh, that's just weird! Germans (and Europeans in general) laugh at our weak, watered-down so-called "Pilsner" beers...and LITE beer, to boot?

I'm with you, Pexster, this is just cruelty! I mean, they send us Porsches, and we send 'em...Bud Lite??

most brewery's sell out of country, a stronger blend, for instance Miller makes a beer that is widely distributed in Turkey. I never knew it until I took the Miller tour and they showed us a bottle I remembered all to well from my time spent in Turkey. My point, I doubt they send bud light, of course if I'm wrong I'm sure we'll see the riot on the news
