Outdoors Would someone PLEASE take this guy OUT

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,117957,00.html

If we're gonna fight, let's make an example of the SOB and his boys. Being Mr. Nice Guy isn't accomplishing much and we lose more face everyday. How many have died just this month without much retribution????? If they want war, I say give it to them , in spades. Let those who want peace come forward and smoke the rest of them. IMO

Notice how the violence is blamed on one leader? Before December, the violence was blamed on 'Saddam loyalists.' The violence was supposed to stop when Saddam was captured. Well, it got worse.

Now, Sadr is said to be the problem. Experience tells me that if we 'took him out' the violence would probably still get worse.

What exactly is retribution in spades? Does that mean mow down innocent people just to show'em? Yup, we're going to bring democracy to Iraq even if it means killing every Iraqi.

As Paulo Freire noted in the Pedagogy of the Oppressed, "Freedom is acquired by conquest, not by gift." What the US is now trying to do is provide freedom to the people of Iraq. Instead, they are merely replacing one system of oppression (Saddam's regime) with another (Occupational Rule). The people of Iraq are not experiencing a fundamental shift in their consciousness, rather they are realizing that the origin of oppression is transforming itself.

Under the old regime, the people of Iraq could build a proper consciousness against the system of oppression that would lead to their freedom. However, providing freedom to them has not lead to a dramatic shift in their identity. Instead, they have only seen their oppressor change shape into the form of Westerners. As Freire also noted, false generosity is merely providing help to those who hold out their hand, instead of providing them with the things they need to transform their world. The US is providing false generosity in the form of deposing the Saddam regime, while maintaining the system of oppression; reinforcing their position as the hegemonic power and executor of oppression.
