Help with Lawn

This time of the year I reseed my lawn. By the end of June My lawn looks beautiful. Come July I start getting lots of bare spots right near my driveway.(and I'm talking large bare spots) I tried almost everything to fix it. Is there anything anyone knows on how to keep my lawn from going bare? I appreciate you help

Maybe you run over that grass with your car. Maybe it doesnt get enough sun. Maybe it doesnt get enough water. Maybe the roots need more nitrogen. Maybe I'm wrong.

dog urine also tends to have that effect... sure one isn't using your lawn as a water closet?

failing that, it might be that if you wash your car on the drive, the soap is affecting the grass around it... just some ideas

Dig the top soil up and replace it with some that is known good. 3 years is too long to be dealing with that problem.

Are vehicles allowed to sit and run for awhile in the drive?..is the area that dies near the rear of where a running vehicle might be?.. if so, it could be damaging gasses and/or other emissions from an exhaust.

Is the ground hard and maybe caked in the area where the grass dies?..gras has shallow roots, and does not do well in hard surface dirt...how large are these spots?...can you get some potting soil (or something similar) and chop it into the dirt in these areas.

Is your lawn on a hill-like?..can the water run off quickly...and perhaps take top soil with it?

What kind of seed are you using? Most seeds are intended as quick fixes, you notice the difference and then poof, its gone.

This is where I would start. Try using Scotts Clasic (good), Pure Premium (better) or the 4 Step Progam (Best) to take care of your lawn. It isnt to late to start any of these. You can also use Scotts Super Turf Builder, which does a pretty good job.

If they are high traffic spots, I would suggest using Scotts High Traffic grasseed.

No, they dont pay me to tell you that, but thats my job (hardware store) so im selling that everyday (along with the cheap stuff too)
