nova: yeah, we didnt have that stuff, but why should we have to pay taxes on them now? its like the government is penalizing us for living well.
raff: I pity your inability to understand history. Do women deserve a place in the work force? yes. At the expense of their childrens formative years? nope. studies prove the best situation for kids is a two parent household where the mother stays home.

Wow! "Studies prove" that what's "best" for kids is a two parent household where the mother stays home?
No study has ever "proven" any such thing.
"Best" is highly subjective, and correctly labeling something as "the best" would require omniscience.

I don't believe that both parents have to work full time to make ends meet. Get a cheaper house, drive a used car, heaven forbid, drop the cable and cell... I know there are some situations where it is necessary, but find them few and far between. |

I absolutely and totally agree....it will become very obvious in coming years that Americas greed and hunger for convenience and luxury is a terrible thing...we all think that we NEED cable tv and two suv's..we NEED 3 phone lines...every family member NEEDS a cell phone...we NEED to eat out at $100 for a family at LEAST once per week...we NEED a trip to the beach every year.
We think that just because we can somehow strain and work two jobs etc..with overtime..we think that as long as we pay the bills that we are ok...wrong...we are losing more than we know.
Time will show it for what it is...there is nothing hidden that will not be revealed.
We are so dependent on foreign countries now...what will happen when the Eu and euro are destroying the dollar even more than today..and the arabs decide to court the EU instead of the USA? There are so many scenarios that could happen.
Of course the fact that we have had a couple generations raised by strangers is quite damaging.
Oh, yeah, and that little thing called the divorce rate.
Oh well, at least we all have cell phones and 3 cars.
oh and what..1 out of 3 Americans are obese now..including kids from 3rg grade and down?????
We are slaves to our conveniences and it will cost us dearly...already is costing us.
Oh, yeah...uh..say the social security system is going bust?? lol..and peeps crying about high medical costs etc...all the while they stuff down that supersize fry cuz mommy was too tired to cook again today cuz she had a ruff day at work??
There is an old saying---"you can pay me now or pay me later"
America has chosen the "take it all now..pay later" approach...and I do believe that payday is coming very soon.

Well, we did that - my wife stayed home for the first 7 or 8 yrs of our kids' lives. And I agree, it's sexist & totally unfair!
I wanted to do it!
But the cold hard fact is that I did - and still do - earn better than three times what my wife does, so that just wasn't possible!

I'm a bit perplexed as to why having a mother stay home to raise children is considered sexist. That's the decision my wife and I made nearly 16 years ago. Sure we've passed up several hundred thousand dollars in income (my wife had a nice career), but the value of raising our children far exceeds any amount of money.
