A new strategy for ADD
A California pediatrician has proposed using marijuana to control attention deficit disorder, according to an article on FoxNews.
"But Mom, I'm only smoking for medicinal purposes!"

Some interesting ideas in the article. Not the usual kinda stupid "smoke for health" logic.
Cannabis may actually be a safer treatment option, if it works, and can be given in food. Needs a lot more work, which probably won't be easy to do, as government support for this kinda research is pretty hard to secure.
I wish her luck, though. Anything to help kids with ADHD.
Cheers
Mick

The current treatment for ADHD are very powerful drugs such as Ritalin, Aderol, Remeron, Stratera, and other powerful drugs. It could very well be that Marijuana is a safer alternative.

put it in their food?
After a couple of those "special" cookies, they're going to get the munchies and eat more cookies!
It would be a vicious cycle!

But the naysayers will no doubt squash any real attempt to explore the benefits. Cannabis has too bad a political reputation, unfortunately.

What an interesting idea.
"Ever since I bought the bong for little billy, he's able to concentrate much better. Of course, the only thing he concentrates on is that Pink Floyd poster."

I would like for them to have something that would really work.

There's 2 plateau's when medicating for ADD/ADHD, the first dosage plateau is optimum for learning and living. The second is for behavior.
The person will reach the first plateau first, and then if you go higher in the dosage, you'll hit the second. If you go higher yet, you'll hit the zombie stage.
Also, as noted by DR. David Amen *, there are at least 6 different types of ADD/ADHD. All can be treated with diet, exercise, and for some of them, medication. However, for some, it's depressants, for others, it's stimulants.
So, the use of marijuana (depressant) may work for some, it would be of no use for the rest.
Diet and exercise should be a part of the treatment in all cases.

IMO, lousy idea. Firstly, ADD is grossly overdiagnost. true, some people have it, but way too often kids that are just being kids are said to have ADD. The problem with all treatments is your body will begin requiring more to maintain the same low.
