Wow, i was just inspired and had an epiphany about life

people are often told to get a life or that they have no life etc. is it not ironic that when parents give life (have a baby) they inturn lose thier (social,mental,emotional etc) lives. is life conservative and limited? must someone "lose" their life in order for someone else to get a life? im not talking strictly about physical life but merely "life" (ie social).
if so life cannot be created or destroyed but simply transferred from one person to another while changing states (physical, social, etc)
