Do You Use Sound Effects On Your Computer?

How many others out there have sound effects on your machine?
You know what I mean. Those, odd, cute, rude, annoying, little
noises other than the ones Microsoft supplied you with.
When I power up Elvira,Mistres of the dark, greets me. She
announces mail, and bids me good bye at shut down. Ah go on,
admit it you've got some noises recorded.

I`ve found that no matter how cool the effect is, it only takes a while to make it bothersome.

I used to have a three second video of Emporer Palpatine from Star Wars saying that he owned me. Was cool for a while, then just got old.

Changed my bosses computer start-up once to that song of "We`re you born an *SSH*L*, or did you work at it your whole life." Funniest thing I ever did to him, but even that got old too, because he didn`t know how to change it, but changed his password instead so we couldn`t turn it off.

Now it`s all quiet on the homefront computer.

I have some sound effects on mine but only to get feedbacks from it. I get feedback on files closing so I know it's done before opening another. I have on web navigations one click to show I made a request and two clicks to show request granted.

I don’t use sound effects on my system. In fact, I have no plugged in speakers, I use only headphones and they spend most of the time hanging on a peg. Back in the day I use to run a twenty second snippet of the BattleStar Galactica theme and at closing a sound bite from Monty Python and the Holy Grail.

At work, there was a fellow employee who was forever clicking away, when things didn’t move fast enough. So I downloaded the “Star Trek” red alert sound and designated it as the error notification sound. It drove him crazy.

I've got hordes of .wav files jammed on my system and on disks....can't get enough of them. Of course, I play them like sound board files during conversations with friends ( kinda like some morning shows do on the radio )

One time, while talking with friends and I was messing around on the computer, my wife was trying to get my attention. I finally responded to her by playing a .wave file on my computer. It was Dana Carvey as "church lady" saying " Yes SATAN?!"

Everyone got a huge laugh outta that one...everyone but her...I just got "the look" pierced through my heart

Later, she admitted that it was pretty funny.

Nope...I did when I first got into computers. For quite some time it's been incredibly annoying and my computer says nothing.

i have some sounds that were stuck on when i revamped my windows to look like a mac... (im guessing it with style xp)... i dont mind them except when i try to watch a movie and browse the web at the same time....
