Outdoors Buy Canadian..NOT ME !!!!!

Ottawa has since banned the killing of baby seals. Hunters must now wait until pups are at least 12 days old, when they have been weaned and begin to shed their white coats.

http://www.cnn.com/2004/WORLD/americ...als/index.html

The Humane Society of the United States took out a full-page ad in The New York Times criticizing the hunt.

The ad -- under the heading "O Canada. How could you ... again?" -- says the country "still permits the clubbing of baby seals."

This kiind of action really pisses me off BIG TIME. Add Canada to my " Will not buy from " list !!!!!!!!!

I hope China is on that list Pickel!

I once registered saynotomadeinchina.com (moderators this site does not exist) and planned on listing every American product made in China with special emphasis on children and patriotic items.

The project was overwhelming; the list of products made in America was far shorter. I just think the Chinese are indoctrinating are children through the proliferation of products made in their country. Do you remember as a child wearing pajamas and playing with toys that said “Made in the Soviet Union”.

Remember children playtime was brought to you today by the benevolent and fun loving People’s Republic of China, overthrowing America’s youth one Tickle Me Elmo at a time.

But it's not an endangered species, so what's the harm? Besides this may also help control the depletion of cod. IMO, "O Canada. How could you ... again?" sounds a little too sarcastic and over-exaggerated.

If you guys have problems with buying from China, then maybe you should pay more attention to the ones that actually initiate the deal - American corporations, and powerful figures who ardently support them (GWB).

While you're looking to point the figure at nations you hate, look at your own first. It's legal to kill baby bovines here, aka, veal.

You should buy based on a product to product basis, not based on a country. I don't exactly like France too much but I'll still buy something if it's made there.

I wouldn’t lay China’s growing economic influence solely at the feet of President Bush.

I believe President Clinton was the man in office when China initial received Most Favored Nation status and it was later on during President Clinton’s watch that China was granted Permanent Normal Trade relations status, which permanently secured low tariffs and other benefits and allowed Chinese to gain entry into the World Trade Organization.

---------------------
Excerpt from President Clinton’s State of the Union address for 2000.

“And that's why I believe Congress should support the agreement we
negotiated to bring China into the WTO, by passing Permanent Normal
Trade Relations with China as soon as possible this year.

I think you ought to do it for two reasons. First of all, our markets
are already open to China; this agreement will open China's markets to
us. And, second, it will plainly advance the cause of peace
in Asia and promote the cause of change in China. No, we don't know
where it's going. All we can do is decide what we're going to do. But
when all is said and done, we need to know we did everything we
possibly could to maximize the chance that China will choose the right
future.”

-----------------

First his claim that this agreement would open China’s markets to us has not quite come to fruition. Second, we’ve had increasing destabilization in Asia and Red China has been using the billions of American dollars pouring into its coffer to construct a modern and sizable navy to demonstrate to the West the seriousness of its intent to take back Taiwan, if not by agreement than by force.

CIA fact book 2003 reports that China has increased their spending by 60% per year over the last couple of years, I guess peace in ASIA will come looking down the barrel of a gun.

What do we even make here that you wouldn't consider buying? lol...

Quote:
Ottawa says Atlantic seals -- which number more than five million -- are responsible for the depletion of cod stocks.
Not that I'm condoning seal hunting - but taking out 350,000 of them won't even make a dent in the overall population. We (and many other places -- including the U.S.) do the same thing here with deer and game that are overpopulated, and no one blinks an eye about it.

I checked the validity of the article. I know that some Canadian television crew went to the U.S. to inform Americans of the "Great Saskatchewan Seal Hunt" and gather their opinions. Many decided then was a great time to boycott Canada - because killing off the great seal population in Saskatchewan is a horrible travesty. The fact of the matter is that there are no seals in, or anywhere near Saskatchewan... a place that often approaches and/or surpasses 100 degrees in the summer. Hence, a lot of Americans made idiots of themselves, and a lot of Canadians enjoyed quite a laugh over it.

You have fun boycotting Canada, pickel.

lol @ brandon. I saw a video clip of something like that, but instead of baby seal clubbing it was about Canada throwing its senior citizens in arctic water.
