The Great Gun Debate - A Rant by Redwolf
Okay guys, I have been following the gun debate for a long time now (going on 3 years). Now I have a rant about the whole debate. And since this is a 'Fair and Balanced (sm)' community, I decided to let you guys hear this rant, and tell me what you think (because I care..oh yes, I do...stop looking at me like that, Im serious).
Okay, here it goes:
[rant]
The two leading parties inthe gun debate are the NRA (pro-gun) and the Brady Group (anti-gun). With me so far?
Every time I read any article written by either group, there's enough mudslinging to turn Death Valley into a swamp. I try to read an article to see what is up with gun control, and I always get something about how the Brady Group wants to take over the world, wants to keep Americans from saving their babies, run by a liberal posse, blah blah blah, or on the other side how the NRA is run by a bunch of neo-nazis, wants to murder little babies, wants to take over the world, blah blah blah.
I'll go ahead and admit it. I'm pro-gun. Firearms have always fascinated me. I know alot about firearms, thier workings, ammunition types, etc. I believe that if every American had a gun, and was trained properly to use it, America would have less crime. I also see where the Brady people are coming from. Little kids not trained to use firearms should not be able to gain access to them.
I swear though, I cannot give a shred of credibility to either side's aricles (propoganda really), no matter how much I want to. Watching the Brady Group and the NRA go at it is like watching Al Franken and Bill O'Riley go at it. That would be the last thing I would want to see, and I would sooner gouge my eyes out and stick hot irons in my ears than to see that debate. Both Bill and Al have good ideas and bad ideas, as well as the NRA and the Brady group. So instead of at least showing a little courtesy and not sling mud in the general direction of the opponents face, they spew forth so much propganda that the issue is lost in them, and breaks down to 'tehy want to blah blah', and 'he is a blah blah', and 'she doesnt get it blah blah'. Give it a rest people. Now tell me about your sides of the story, not who is better than who.

Don't know!?!
I don't listen to either side!
I was raised with guns and I'm pro-gun, but agree that only people who are trained should have access to them.

My view -- law-abiding people should be able to possess as many firearms as they choose, with reasonable restrictions such as criminal record checks. Gun show loopholes should be closed.

of course he says what they're saying is BS. Really though I don't think it matters if moore's movie is or isn't a "documentary", I think it's more of what do you get out of it. Personally I don't take the facts offered at face value, I didn't watch it to have my mind changed, or to follow anyones else's thought patterns, I just thought it was, well oddly enough humorous for one, and 2, I felt that it did portray an accurate account of many of our social problems. Not because of the statistics of it but more for the human element. It is worth watching. (BTW I'm for people owning guns)

I personally think law-abiding people should be able to have guns simply because illegal guns are so easy to get. I know a guy at the mall who sells guns and drugs. Officially he sells T-shirts, but if you ask to see "the box" he will show you an assortment of hand guns. They're cash only, no background check required.
If criminals can get guns that easily, non-criminals should be able to have guns as well.

Shame on you for advocating and SUPPORTING criminal actions.
I EQUATE not doing something to stop crime with ACTIVELY supporting criminal activities.
If more people like yourself would get actively involved with policing our streets, honest people like ourselves(the gun toters) wouldnt need the guns we carry.
I fully support the gun lobby and I believe that if the people who were stuck on the planes on 911 had guns we wouldnt have had the tragedy we did.
