today I went to the local pet store to buy some supplie for my hamster. I asked if they sell gerbils. Suprisingly the store owner told me tha gerbils are illegal in california.
Maybe they contribute to the pollution? Maybe they stink too bad? Maybe California is afraid of rabid animals? Maybe I have run out of half-way-ligitimate reasons for Gerbils to be illegal in California?
but what about hamsters? and mice and rats. They are all legal.
I read that if they escape or something they might take over the population. But I really don't think that domisticated gerbils will have any chance in the wildlife of the city.
