interesting media bias stories?

Hey I'm doing a 60min presentation for my class in a few weeks and so I'm looking for some good examples of the media being really biased on a story. I've found a lot about the war right now. But its hard to find ABC's view then find an untainted view or at least a fairly objective view.

So are there any really striking examples of this that you people can think of right off your head?

http://www.techimo.com/forum/t98779.html is an interesting idea. I may include some information on that.

Okay, I didn't like the book much. I hated most of it, in fact.
Al Franken wrote a book titled "Lies and the Lying Liars Who Tell Them: A Fair and Balanced Look at the Right."

There's a chapter on media bias. The story I'm thinking of is regarding the presidential candidates in 2000. It really is a great example.

FAIR, the national media watch group, has been offering well-documented criticism of media bias and censorship since 1986.
Quote:
after the September 11 attacks, he [Bill O'Reilly] advocated devastating bombing against civilian targets in a number of countries, including Libya ("Let them eat sand."). Questioned about it a few weeks later, O'Reilly was spinning: "I never said bomb a civilian. I would bomb military targets. I would bomb military targets.... I'm not talking about civilians."

The media bias that is being researched is in news reporting, I believe, and not with commentators. Commentators, whether it's O'Reilly or Ivins, have a clear bias and it isn't hidden. I've never heard either one claim to be unbiased. People like Dan Rather do claim to be unbiased and newspapers, whether is the NYT or the NYP try to claim they're not biased. Personally, I read the Christian Science Monitor. I think they make an effort to be unbiased and they might be the only standard against which you can compare.

Their mission is "documenting and exposing the liberal political agenda of the New York Times."

You could just as easily do a report on bias among organizations and internet sites that purport to expose media bias. Wouldn't that get your head spinning.

Not at all. The Christian Science Monitor is, other than it's name, a good newspaper.
