They Forgot to Eat Garlic!

A lesson to us all -- garlic is good -- don't end up like this.

Even in the news report it says "an unusually high number " .

People need to remember that like dogs and cats, that bats are very useful to the ecology but can become infected with rabies.

" Bats perform the wonderful service of eating night-flying insects such as mosquitoes. They can eat up to 600-1,200 mosquitoes a night. Many insects will actually avoid the area where they hear bats. They will not compete for food or space with the wild birds that you are attracting to your yard. Bats also pollinate plants. By providing a home for bats you are helping to prevent the extinction of this flying mammal."

Rabies isnt that normal for bats and almost exclusively to the vampire bats which are a very small portion of the bat population.

That IS good info, Vern, thanks for sharing. There's still a lot of ignorance - hence, fear - about bats so your info is well-received and well-placed, imo. Bats are cool!

And garlic is a good, healthy thing, too
