Double Citizenship?

Is it possible to be a citizen of two countries? I've always wondered about that.

I wonder if there is a world record for most citzenships held?

Is the limit two? or could some people get many citizenships?

I am not sure about that, but I am just fine and dandy with having two.

I know someone with at least three citizenships. Born in waters off Australia, to one Greek and one New Zealander parent, so has citizenship in three countries! Not automatic, though,; parents had to apply in all three countries. If they hadn't, I wonder whether he would have been a non-citizen!

Some one born in International waters has some kinds of choice about citizenship, I think.

Not sure about someone born in airspace above a country, though.

Cheers
Mick

I am a dual citizen. US and Australia. Its great. Not sure if there is a limit on the number. However my boss has United States, Greece and Australia. Not sure how she pulls it off but it happens.

Arnold Schwarzenegger has dual American and Austrian citizenship. That may be a record for a governor.

How about this scenario for possibly four citizenships; born to parents, each from different nations, while in the contiguous United States, inside the embassy of a nation different the three above. Embassies are supposed to be the sovereign territory of the nation who occupies the building and grounds. Surely you could claim US citizenship because you were in the borders of the USA and perhaps get the nation who’s embassy you where born in to grant you citizenship and then the citizenship home nations of your parents.

If wonder if a scenario like that might yield you potentially four citizenships?

Warmest Regards,
Zotz Mein

My aunt and uncle were on vacation in Spain when Aunt had my cousin two months premature, he was by virtue of his parents automatically entitled to US citizenship and because he was born in Spain was granted citizenship for that nation. He is a dual nation citizen.

I'm a dual citizenship holder as well: Canada and the UK.

Word of warning to those travelling with multiple passports. When you enter a country on one passport, make sure that you leave on that same passport if you want to avoid problems.
