I myself am not originally from the US but have lived here for the better half of 15 years. I have moved around from country to country and have experienced a great range of cultures. The US has become my home, and I wouldn't prefer living any where else. In England, where I was born, we are not so outspoken about our love for the country, though we are very strong supporters of our sports teams. The US is proud of what it has accomplished, being one of the leading countries in the economy there is no reason it shouldn't be proud. Not only is it the economy, but men and women of many varied ethnicities are willing to put down their lives for their HOME. Etc.
THough I understand what creatures is saying, we as americans may come across as slightly overly patriotic, and I am not proud of how far some people will go. But you must understand that people celebrate their country's accomplisments in different ways. THe US chooses to fly its flags day in and day out. THe British use their patriotism in their sports. THe vietnamese have huge festivals that celebrate their heritage. THere are so many others, and i'm sure the swiss have celebrations of sorts. Look around, you may be surprised in what you find.

Welcome, and thanks for putting forward the British side of the arguments, quite a few americans think we hate our country , well, some of us do.

Is there a reason why we think the American's are cheesy? e.g.

"Thats right, we the U.S. fly our high and proud"

comes across as overly cheesy to me , no digs at anyone, i'm posing a real question here.

I know why brits don't love their country as much as in the US.

it is really quite simple. Lets evaluate. The UK for 600 or 700 years controlled much of the world. Stripping resources and riches from plundered nations. In that 700 years they only managed slow progress.

The US controlled a comparitively small piece of real Estate and managed to take the lead in virtually every arena in 200 years. From upstart to Super power in 200 years with a tremendous middle class living higher life style than virtually every nation. Contrast that with the UK from upstart to one of many super powers all bickering back and forth with little technological or economic improvement for the surfs (all this while stripping the nations of the world bare) .
