A friends suicide
A friend / co-worker of mine committed suicide a few days ago. I am confused, hurt, angry and very sad right now. My workplace is feeling much the same way. We are having much trouble in dealing with the loss of our friend.
Many believed to have known him quite well and can not understand how he was this troubled and not know something was wrong . He appeared to have been a very strong person and always had his act together.
I was over his house 2 weeks ago and had an enjoyable evening with him. We had plans to get together again to work on his computer network at his home.
Thinking back about all the conversations I have had with him recently, I can not think of a single moment when I could have sensed he was so distraught. Nor can anyone else.
I cant imagine the demons he was battling in his heart to take his own life. I hope he has found his peace.
Tomorrow is the funeral. Honestly I am scared to see him lying in the casket. I will be there to say goodbye.
I will miss him.

I am very sorry to hear, Jman.
It's darn near impossible for a person to be able to tell when darkness takes over someone's heart. We know that you would have done something if you had been given some indication of your friend's despair.
How terrible for those who remain, always asking, wondering..."WHY?"
Heal, Brother.

Unfortunately, (maybe) you cannot "feel" his problem or help him get to the root of it to save his life.
I am here to tell you that many years ago, I had a problem so bad, that I too contemplated suicide. As I sat at my workbench and cleaned my hunting rifles after the season closed, and I had just received irrefutable evidence of an unfaithful wife.. I woke up with the muzzle of a loaded .300 Weatherby Magnum stuck in my mouth and my finger in the trigger guard.
Sometimes, a suicide happens so quick, for reasons that will forever be hidden from everybody else.
I 'think' I can understand...and feel your hurt..just understand that you can never be fully aware of exactly why.

Suicide is one thing in life that I'll never be able to grasp, or even remotely comprehend....
Sorry for your loss. |

People that do this either have something wrong externally i.e. cheating wife, as stated previously, job loss, etc. Also, they could have some mental problem. Their life as you see it may be fine, but what they preceive as their life is anything but fine. I hate to analyze this, but that is what I think people commit the evevitable for.
Sorry for your loss. I hope not ever to be in a situation such as yours.

When I was in Houston at JSC, one of the tech staff I worked with committed suicide. He had suffered a head injury in a car wreck some years earlier and ever since had constant headaches that eventually drove him to take his own life. Still, most of the folks who knew him best never suspected things had reached that point. He was at a party with the rest of us earlier on the night he took his own life. There was no sign of despondency.
The only consolation to his friends was that now, finally, he was in no pain. I suspect that's true in most cases of suicide, whether the pain is physical or emotional.
My condolences to you, jman01pa.

I have a cousin and a friend that both committed suicide, and it leaves a big hole in the heart of the friends and loved ones left behind to endure the grief.
You never know what was going on behind the scenes,or how long he had carried the pain around with him.Or what prompted him to do this.
You and his family are in our prayers and thoughts jman
