The only person sweating is Bush. As many veteran Washington observers have pointed out, they've NEVER seen such an onslaught of attacks against one person as the White House has launched this week. That indicates FEAR.

Oh, I don't know, Paula Jones might disagree.

But what makes you think someone can just pop up and start trashing the President during an election and expect everyone to sit still and nod their heads? He gave Clinton a pass while we were attacked three times - the first world trade tower attack, the Kenya embassies, the Cole. And then blames Bush for the attack on sept 11?

The man is peddling books - with the management and aid of CBS who is marketing it through their news bureau.

If he's so truthful, he has nothing to worry about.

As far as Bush worrying, the more terrorism stays in the news the more it helps Bush, since few of any party trust Kerry with defense of the country. (Ya, I know - Mc Cain does. A sole voice in the forest).

This bruhaha keeps Kerry off message about the economy, jobs, and taxes.

Perhaps another reason why Bush won't let Rice testify under oath?

I think the fact that he has a book out may be, uhh, SLIGHTLY influencial to his testimonying

Did everyone see his letter to Bush when he resigned or whatever?? He didnt sound so mad then huh?

---

oh, just saw this

---

COUNTEROFFENSIVE ON CLARK: As his advisers tell it, President Bush had tired of the White House playing defense on issue after issue. So this week, his aides turned the full power of the executive branch on 9/11 whistleblower Richard Clarke.

ooo..sorry, it was a link to the washington post..which you have to have a subscription for

Everybody's making the book a big thing -- and the fact that Viacom (I think) owns CBS, as well as the publisher. Heck, in today's world, everybody's owned by one conglomerate or another. Anyway, I don't think Clarke would put his butt out on the line like he has just to drum up a few book sales. Who's gonna buy it anyway? We all know what it says!

Rice won't (or can't) testify under oath due to separation of powers.

Slate tells you what Richard Clarke's book reveals about the Bush and Clinton administrations' war on terror.
