Strange Battery - Need Help!

Howdy.

I need to find a battery to replace a dead one in an old remote that I want to use again. But I've never seen a battery like this before.

It says "Jingpai" on the front. It also says:

12-volt battery for lighters
Replaces VR22.El - 12 Sunda electro- chem.works

It's 28mm long and 10mm wide. Looks like a shorter AAA battery. I have absolutely no idea where to find one of these, or even what to ask for if I call to inquire.

Can anyone enlighten me on what exactly I'm dealing with?

Thanks!

Brandon

Brandon, that sounds like one I have in a car "key fob" remote for a remote start system. Can't verify 100% w/o taking the remote apart, but it sure sounds right. Radio Shack had it in stock, about $4

Home Depot has them too. I think anywhere you go that has a large battery display will have it, be careful tho I remember a couple that size and they look a lot alike. (of course I got the wrong one once)

GP 23A Alkaline 12V

The GP23A is also know as VR22, MS21, MN21, L1028, LRV08

LR-23A Alkaline battery. 12 volt. (Also known as MN-21, V23GA, 8LR932, 8F10R, VR22)

Thanks for the info, Ed & surreal.

A friend just told me that an "N" battery will do... But I'm guessing that might be difficult to find. I'm gonna run into Home Depot tomorrow morning and see what they've got.

Thanks again.

If worst comes to worst, try a camera shop.

I won't go into detail about the situation, as you'd all probably tell me I'm an idiot who needs to get a life (well, you'd say it more often, at least. ) - but I need this before 8:30am... So my options as to what is open are limited.

Staples and office depot i think open at 7 AM, if you have one near you. I know when i was a manager there, we had at least 2 dozen specialty battery sizes.
