How to make your car invisible to radar and laser, or how to Lose $300.00

www.escortradar.com did an article on the Rocky Mtn Radar "Jammer" and posted this result(more or less)

Using the various "Passive Radar Jammers" increased the range of the Radar GUN by almost 100% meaning the effective range of the Kustom Kreations K-band 25.525ghz radar gun went from 1500' to about 2,800'(figures from memory are not totally accurate)
We feel that all Police Departments will wholeheartedly endorse the use of this product

The Bull Excretement ->>

The Phantom II has a host of new and improved features, including a larger jammer antenna for double the jamming power.
The laser component transmits an infrared beam that has the same effect on laser Lidar units.
Faster, more powerful laser diodes were added for improved laser scrambling,

The radar component works by mixing an X, K or Ka radar signal with an FM "chirp" and bouncing it back at the squad car by way of a waveguide antenna, effectively confusing the computer inside the radar gun.

The Phantom II is not intended to condone excessive speeding. For that reason, within the first year, the manufacturer will pay tickets where the speed limit was not exceeded by more than 30%, or 15 miles per hour, whichever is less. California is excluded from the Ticket Rebate program.

Legal in every state except California, Minnesota, Oklahoma, Virginia, Nebraska, and Washington, D.C.

I have anti-matter contained in magnetic bottles and some di-lithium crystals. They won't be catching me.

Ha ha doc, thats a good 'un
I've always known those "jammers" were junk, it nice to see someone do a test to show beyond all doubt that they are worthless.
The "waveguide antenna" makes a DANDY reflector also, along with all the parabolic reflectors in the headlights

Road&Track did a test in the late 80's where they took an 8 inch Hella halogen driving light and mounted an infrared high pass filter on it. They then put it on the front of an Oldsmobile Achieva(sp) and ran it at a lasergun, and it worked!

The reason was that the high intensity light, (filtered by the high pass filter) basically "blinded" the gun and it could not pick up it's pulses which were very weak compared to the filtered high intensity light from the Hella.
The anology was it was like asking you to try and see someone flashing a flashlight at you while standing right beside someone
shining a 250,000 candle power Q-Beam in your face.
But, the IR filter is a very deep red and we all know how the fuzz feel about havin' red lights shining from the front of your ride.
Edmund scientific is where they got the filter for the light.
This was a while back, right after laser guns first came out, so I imagine they have some way to tell if this is going on now.

Ah Ha! And for just 19.95 you too can have the Instructions to make your own cloaking device!
