hmm not too bad for me
At the same time though, I never post my icq number online either nor is it on any BB's

Not that I'm antisocial, it just tends to get swallowed up by advertisers

New icq number?
Mines only 6 digits
I got a friend that has a 5 digit Icq number
not like the ones from nowadays that are like a social security number lol

unfortunately the only one that isn't covered with adverts is (dare I say it?) MSN Messenger

although icq is the only one I really get spam from. You ever noticed its always from rather umm "questionable" sites as well?

really irks me.

How did you know this, yes I probably do get spam every 15 minutes.

Can websites somehow work out that you have icq open and then get your icq number or something to spam you?

Ive got a pretty good guess why he gets so much, He has had his number and that little image (that lets people know when your online) on his website for years. He has had the the same number and a website that was never updated but had alot of links on it (some of those webrings).
You dont have yours somewhere like that do you?

Ive been getting the occasional spam. I put em on my ignore list but I dont know if they change their ##s or not. Ive got an older 7 digit ## that Ive had for too long to change because of spam. For ICQ 2000a/b users they make a crack to get rid of the banners. It can be found Here . I couldnt get it to work in XP (who cares, I dont use it anymore anyway...), but it works fine in Win2k/9x.

Mine is in the 14 xxx xxx range and I get spam messages about once a day. I never received any with earlier versions.

also do you have your icq number visible to teh web?
(its on an option in icq)

advertisers create software "spiders" that go out and "crawl" the web for specific information. I imagine one crawls through icq.com for icq numbers.
