What's YOUR Mental O.S.?

Here's some notions that have been kicking around in (what I'm pleased to call) my mind, wonder how you-all might react...

My OS is Pictures. I think entirely in pictures. For the longest time I would wonder why so many verbal skills were so hard for me, when it seemed like most other people could express themselves quite easily. I worked hard when I was younger, trying to learn all the bestest, and biggest words...Nah, didn't work...it was the OPERATING SYSTEM!!

Pros...I never forget a face, and can usually pin somebody down in seconds. Also, spelling and grammar are very easy for me, as every word I think of is visualized, as well as the way it should 'display' in a sentence. As an artist, I can 'call up' a scene or a texture and capture it in a picture.

Cons...Aforementioned so-so verbal skills, (esp. in an arguement; the whole unit just FREEZES!!) Plus, for some reason I can NOT remember names Also, studying 'hard data' doesn't work...I only retain info if I've performed something with it.

I think sometimes that if you ever met somebody who was running Windows on a MAC, well, that's me!

Its colors and smells that are most important. I even dream in technicolor (with sound , not dolby, though ). But I can understand about your verbal skills.

Motor skills, OK, though?

Yeah, seriously, though, many people "get the picture" through schematics/diagrams rather than through verbiage (spelling?). Particularly the bigger perspective from 50,000 feet. True for abstract ideas/thoughts particularly.

So, yeah, my OS would be sights and sounds.

The power of association- face with name - is also difficult for many if you see them out of their normal surroundings.

If you see a library girl ( whom you see everyday at the library counter) at a Mall or airport, she'll look familiar but you can't place her. Eventually, to most people it comes back, but some people keep wondering: Where have I seen her before?

Trivia for thought, thats all.

Me, I'm running the PalmOS. I'm slow and I see things in black and white.

Yeah, lucky that way, although I think that's more of a program option...
