Voter disenfranchisement - I NEED Jessie now!!

Well the polls here have been open for 45 minutes and the new Diebold touch screen machines won't boot up.

The machines are frozen.

Can't vote by paper because they're too busy on the phone with tech support.

My son went to vote at 6:45 this A.M and was turned away at 7:15.

Now he's at school and from there has to go straight to work.

He has been deprived of his right to vote.

I want Jessie Jackson right now!!!

Bill

Wow.....that does not sound like a good situation there in California. Voting booths that wont boot? Cant they have one person on the phone with tech support while another provides the paper voting?

This is not going to be good for electronic voting. Does anyone know what OS they are using on the voting machines?

Can your son vote between school and work Bill?

Well work and the precinct are in opposite directions.

He's going to call his employer and see if he can come in late.

He's new on the job so we'll see.

He'll be at least an hour late not counting any wait time and if the machines are working is another concern.

So they waited 'til the last minute to boot the machines? What a bunch of idiots! (I can insult bureaucrats, as long as they are not TechIMO members, can't I?)

Seriously, I heard on the news this morning that they have hundreds of support techs standing by. Guess they'll be busy!

Here's another laugher on this.

A lot of the polls are in garages of people's houses.

The last 3 polling places I had were staffed by citizens in their 70's.

Just the type of people you want to walk through tech support on a computer over the phone.

I am not surprised.

Even worse, did ya' know the combination locks on most Diehold voting systems are set with a repeating three-digit numerical sequence (111, 222, 333, etc.)?

A couple of guys on a mailing list I read broke into a Diebold voting system in less than 60 seconds.

If you want the complete breakdown on the voting machines just search for the links I posted and was so soundly flamed for. There is a nice bit about the S.D. area also in that information.
If you can't find it I can repost it.
