Talk Vacation suggestions?

Id like to hear some ideas on where to take a weeks long vacation this year to some tropical island. Im a single fella and Ive always wanted to take a vacation by myself and sit on a beach lapping up the sun and surf. Preferbly blue green surf. Somewhere not to expensive and somewhere not to dangerous. :P So if anyone has any ideas Id appreciate to hear them. Im not a kids type guy either so if I can avoid em I do, so no kiddie places please.

I have had the good fortune to visit many Caribbean islands and can offer this advice.

If your main focus is beach and relaxation, I suggest Anguilla or Jost Van Dyke (British Virgins). They are small, friendly, quiet, uncrowded, and very relaxing. They are not the place for a single guy looking for (powered) water sports, casinos, and night clubs. Give 'em a Google!

For a more festive environment, but still including nice beaches, try St. John (USVI).

Find yourself a nice, secluded beach in the Bahamas. Stay near a large town, and you will be okay. Stray out too far from civilization, and you are your own.

I am not sure if you have evaluated this option, but package deals to Hawaii are rather competitive right now. Tourism to the island has taken a hit in recent months.

Head to the Keys. The beaches are identical to the islands and everyone speaks English. If you dive, you will not be disappointed.

Key West is boring IMHO, but to each their own. South Beach is more my style.

A nude beach in CA? No thanks, we have enough of that at New Port Richey.

I live in San Diego.

Trust me you don't want to go there.

There are some things in life you just don't want or need to see!

As for islands Kauai, the Big Island, and Maui are all excellent.

Lived there awhile.

If you go make sure you rent a car otherwise your stuck at the hotel (cost of food).
