Going Over To The Dark Side
Well, it's like this. I have 7 PC's including the laptop, three of them are the way I want them, one is doing a death spiral and the others are awaiting various upgrades, tweaks, twiddles and donated organs from the one in the death spiral. One will become a Linux box when I get the time and nerve to dink with it. After all, I've been in the clutches of Wintel for too long. So, what do I do????
Buy a Mac....
Got a Mac G3 tower coming, configured as an audio workstation. I probably know more about Macs than a lotta Mac owners out there and I dink around on my wife's pretty regularly. Still, this'll be a new experience, doing serious stuff on a Mac. Haven't done that since I did layout and prepress stuff eons ago on a Quadra.
Needless to say, I'm gonna be yelling for help once in a while. Any Mac nerds out there that don't fit the condescending twerp stereotype I run into in the shops around here?

Billionz $ Billionz, Warty
Got a fair deal and especially attractive since the exotic audio hardware and software is already on it.
Know anything about 'em?

Tom,
Have you thought about joining the TechIMO ECCp team? We certainly could use the horsepower of your systems and that G3 would really crunch some numbers. Just a thought.

Dave, You're right, I'm itching to get my mitts on it and it looks like I may have a fight with my wife on my hands over this one Got the pix this time. For some reason, they wouldn't open on the webpage. Sheez! this is a serious SCSI card! Since I have a ton o' SCSI externals, I'll use it! And that ton o' RCA jacks in the back is for stereo audio in and out and video in and out (like for TV). Should be quite the useful thang!
Radar, I'm considering that. I already am running UD on one cow here. The hangup is that all these machines, while networked, are on dialups, and I have to share that line with my wife and son's machines. DSL is in the foreseeable future, at which time, we'll be caracking' all kinds of stuff! Except for the audio workstations, which I like to run as lean and clean as possible.
