I think this is in response to Kerry accusing Bush of not going with more ground troops during the bombing of Tora Bora.

They used Special Forces, Seals, and Delta units rather than regular Army. These troops worked with local tribal leaders who knew the lay of the land and "owned their turf". Kerry says we were wrong to not send in higher profile targets, opps I mean troops.

Kerry apparently feels we should have gone in like Russia did as an invasion force so our helicopters would be targets of SS7's. As the 4th division swarmed around the 10,000 caves of Tora Bora with no locals to help them, the news would have had a field day with the drip, drip, drip of the US forces body count.

Face it, the Democrats don't do war right! They thought that Bill Clinton bombing at 30,000 feet (for pilot safety) was a great tactic! Kinda hard on the civilians when the wind shifted, but with the press on your side - who cares?

Why didn't he do this right after 9/11 ????? Election year B.S. He could catch Bin Laden, The Joker, or even Professor Moriarty and I still wouldn't vote for him !!!!

One would think that the greatest effort would already been underway. Perhaps the order was, "get OBL for the October surprise."

The problem was, and still is to get OBL without getting more soldiers killed. More troops = more targets.

Why is this problem different than troops dieing in Iraq?

Because Iraq had little or nothing to do with 9/11. It wasn't an immediate threat. OBL was and still is a threat. He's still active and so is his organization. More intense effort in Afghanistan would probably have produced better results. But that couldn't happen because GWB had his sights set on Iraq and needed to commit troops there. Result: a nation that was not a threat was overrun and an organization that is responsible for the deaths of thousands is still a threat. Go figure.

Bush is getting worried that OBL will pull off another attack and ruin his chance for another term.

Bush finally gave orders for OBL to be caught? He didn't give them before? I guess he was too busy counting kickbacks from Halliburton!

If you look beyond the superficial message in this news and dig a little deeper it may make a little more sense. Note that this is hard for some people to do since they’d prefer to attack Bush without having to think. He could solve world hunger and the same idiots would attack him for lining his food industry buddies’ pockets.

1) Pakistan, possibly in light of the fact that they have spread nuclear technology to evil countries, is now much more cooperative in the search for OBL, which is important because there's a good chance he's actually in Pakistan. 2) A lot was learned in the Saddam search that can now be effectively applied in the OBL search. For instance, they had much more luck with smaller task forces with embedded intelligence agents.

Anyone who thinks catching OBL hasn't always been important to Bush are likely to be naive enough to think he's saving this for an election surprise. These are the same hate-mongers that forgive Clinton for not even trying to find him, even though had Clinton done his job OBL wouldn't have been around for 9/11.

The chances of serious terriorist attack before election day are between slim and none. They are laying low, hoping GWB loses.

GWB wants to hunt them down and kill them. They don't like that.

OBL will eventually turn up, and when he does it will make the news. GWB is a powerful man, but even he couldn't keep that a secret!
