I can't stand..

.. having a cold.

Can't eat, can't sleep (it's 4:30am), can't BREATHE, can't smell, etc, etc... My sinuses make me want to drill a hole in my face, my ears ache, and I'm getting sick and tired of this!

Hasn't even been a week yet, but I've been downing Echinacea and Vitamin C and sleeping whenever my body wants me to. HOPEFULLY this crap doesn't last much longer!

That's my rant for the week... Send the chicken soup recipes my way!

- Brandon

Try adding some zinc supplements to that apothecary. I started taking 50mg zinc tabs once a day when I got my annual "hey look, dry weather, let's be sick for two months" cold and I'll be darned if it didn't beat it back pretty easily. 1000mg of vitamin C and 50mg of Zinc daily. Worked alright for me. That reminds me, I ran out of dailies on Thursday.

ohhh, for some very temporary relief... try a warm/hot wash cloth on the sinuses.... a long shower.... lots of steam... humidifer...lots of fluids... ginger ale...

quick soup -
can of chicken broth or 2
small amt of veges (froz or canned)
to add extra flavor, fry up some celery & onions & garlic
can add some noodles
if you have some fresh ginger, that would be real good to add

...hope you feel better soon....

1000mg ??

http://www.americanfreepress.net/Alt...tamin_c__.html

"The official recommended daily intake of vitamin C for adult men and women is 75 mg daily."

"Above about 200 mg of vitamin C daily, researchers found that the body was entirely saturated with vitamin C"

You don't STAY on that kind of plan, obviously. Taking zinc for too long can build it up to caustic levels also. But for knocking out a cold, it works pretty well in my experience.

I'm only taking 10mg zinc right now... I'll have to go buy something else.

They can land a man on the moon, but they can't develop a cure for the common cold. I don't get it! Seriously... I know that there's a ton of different cold viruses out there, but give me a break!

ya a friend of mine absolutely swore her life on some zinc-echinesia tablets for a cold.

I tried one once... it was putting a flavored piece of dog food in my mouth
And that was just to pop it in and swallow!

You can't OD on vitamin C. You just urinate out what you don't use. When you have a cold your body uses more. But if you're taking 1000mg it's best to take 250mg 4 times a day. I suppliment with C and E all the time.

Zinc really keeps the sinuses dry, but I've found you have to start taking it at the first sign of a cold and not stop until the cold is over. It'll keep 'em clear, but it's hard to clear 'em once their plugged. And the ones I take you don't swallow. They are lozenges. Not that bad either.
