30 days!??!

Quote:
Did you know? If you don't sign in to MSN Hotmail® for 30 days, your account becomes inactive and:
You lose all e-mails and attachments in your Inbox and other folders
All of your incoming e-mail gets rejected
You lose all contacts in your Address Book
30 days?!?!
Jeez, wouldn't want to get sick or anything.
Feel sorry for all those @home users that are going to entirely lose their email.

Is this normal?

I mean dont get me wrong, I agree with putting a time limit on an acct but 30 DAYS?!?!
I'd think like 3-6 mos. People take vacations longer than 30 days! (I wish)

Not to mention you CAN get your account back if you sign in within 90 days of the account going "inactive" BUT you still lose all email and address book..

Is this normal?
What is yahoo, and the others like?

Shoot 30 days is all? I'm gaonn have to cut all 6 of my vacations short

J/K

Yeah 30 days is pretty short. I hope I never forget to check my email for that long. Hey look on the bright side. At least you can get it back.

I guess this makes a case for using Outlook or soem other mail program where you can get all that stored locally.

oh did you mean the account or the email?

(I wouldof just edited, but it wouldn't load the page.. I'm hoping its just my funky connection at work)

--- edit ---
OH I'm so rude
I forgot to say that there IS an option!
Just cause they love their customers

20 bucks per year (granted per year isn't horrible) you get a WHOLE 10 MB! (yahoo gives 6 free lol)
AND you can send files all the way up to 1.5 MB!!

What a bargain!

I seen a guy the other day I think he had about 3 GB (yes GB) in emails lol

no they weren't in deleted or sent items either lol

Yahoo does NOT do this.

I have two accounts, one to ol Cranium the evil counsel that I seldom check.

After perhaps 10 months I decide to go back and get a little message about inactivity and do I wish to remain active or whatever but not hostile action like above.

he did have email dating back to 1997 LOL

People around these parts are pretty psycho about their email.

Some people keep it simply to CYA (cover your a$$)
From what I've heard 5 yrs down the road people have been known to ask about a specific circumstance and expect them to know very quickly the answer

Others... just dont bother deleting.

--edit--
oh and you wouldn't believe the powerpoint slides people send out...
The really irritating thing is, one person sends out an email + attachment to 100+ people. One person says hey here is a problem. SO that person RESENDS the same email + attachment AGAIN with the fix...

The group I used to work with, were working on a DM (Document Management) system, but that will take a lot of time to implement. This would hopefully deter people from doign this. Dont know why they dont just send a link *shrug*

I got the same note from Hotmail. I remember getting one a lot like about six months ago. I didn't worry about that one either.

They changed their rules about account inactivity quite a while back. I see it as just another sales pitch. It all started about the same time.
