Interesting so the population of haiti voted for him because the 82nd airborne was on the way. Do you have documents to indicate this. Why did the general populace vote for him with that threat in place. Did the USA say that we would attack the general populace if they did not vote that way?

Poppa Doc and Aristide appear to be very different people with aristide appearing to be a bit nicer. I am interested in a synopsis of why he is hated by the rebels, What do the rebels have in store for the country... and the question from above not angry little uninformative blurts of venom.

After a discussion with 3 Hatian students all in their 30s their answer to what the whole issue is about is who will controll the drug trade.
No more no less. Haiti is a major transshipment point for drugs going to the us.
Their opinion is both sides are a bunch of crooks and it really doesn't matter who wins the people loose.

I've been trying to get a handle on Haiti as well. Ever since I heard that Kerry had blamed the problems on the George W. Bush, I wanted to get some facts. My friends answer is to take all of the ones presently in power and the ones trying to overthrow them, line them all up and shoot them, then Hati will stand a chance to survive as a free country, but not as long as either group rules.

I do not know them and can't evaluate their politics nor their reasoning. For all I know they are anarchists who do not like Aristide. Or they could be well informed and rational. I can't tell from where I sit. they also could just be nomaxim's types
