Interesting car crash
w00t! Me glad me drives my BMW
This is from a BMW forum I frequent: Quote: |
My girlfriend's 1987 325is was hit by a Ford (Taurus I think). It was a chain accident. Car in front of my gf's bmw stoped, she stopped, but Ford driver was not paying attention and did not stop in time. Look at the difference in damage!!! Fords windshield was damaged and airbags when off. Aren't you glad you drive BMW???
| You're going to need a Yahoo account to view these, unfortunately. Would be great if someone could upload them BMW Ford

I didn't have a yahoo account and could see them....
I think the difference is that older cars had thck metal bumpers and body...
New cars are made to crumple.... to absorb the impact.....
You see the difference between new and old technology....
I still think old technology is better cuz if that beemer was my civic HB I'd have a ford bumper indent in my head....

Holy sh*T!! And until recently I drove a taurus almost exactly like that one! Except mine had rust, dents, and duct tape on it.
You should have seen this POS. One of the crappiest cars on campus for sure (if not THE crapiest). And were talking a 50,000 student campus!

LOL isn't it ironic?
Hmmm
Actually it kind of disturbs me simply in the fact that there is note even a paint mark on the beemer.
I mean with all the damage done to that ford, there WOULD be some paint marks on the beemer.
Not a one.
Not to mention the sides of the damage really dont match.
one is on the left, the other is more on the right.
Anybody else think this maybe wrong?
It'd be different if I saw both pics in the same environment, but nowhere near it.
One in a garage, one at the scene.

I think the Taurus bumpers and plastic so I would not expect paint marks on the BMW.
If the Taurus hit indirectly, meaning right bumper area to BMW left bumper area, it would make sense. The air bags are what smashed the windshield as in any car with air bags.

I can't vouch for honesty except I trust the people on that forum........unless some guy is trying to make Ford look bad, which would be silly.
Got another one for you....this guy supposedly found it on Ebay....total crash of the BMW......the driver would still be alive! (with a seatbelt). Totaled BMW.

*EDIT, responding to last post
I agree. The person could've tried to swerve, definately a high possibility. I think it's completely valid.

uhhh, the hit area on the BMW is a little high for a Taurus to have hit it there judging from the damage on both; I have that same kind of Taurus and unless the one in the wreck was jacked up or something, it should have hit the Beemer on it's bumper. One of my friend has one of those Beemers and when it and my Taurus are parked next to each other the front Taurus bumper and the rear Beemer bumper almost line up -- the beemer bumper is a little taller than the Taurus' front one. So, the Taurus should have almost slid *under* the Beemer, not hit it *above* the bumper on the taillight.
Just speculating....
