It looks like the Taurus did slide under the bumper.

The majority of the damage to the Taurus is to the grill area.

And the taillight damage, etc. to the BMW is caused by the hood and other stuff busting on the Taurus.

*edit

LOL.....now that I look at it more, the BMW's bumper has pretty much left an indent in the Taurus.....lol, that's funny

Yeah, but that B'mer total pic, probably going about 80-100 MPH.
Try that with a Taurus!!!

Yes, the BMW's and Mercedes are the safes cars, thats why they cost so much.
If you want cheap, you get a tin can.
Spend some money, and you get a tank!!

as far as the first pics, cont agree or disagree, no refference.
Still seems about right though

Yeah, I'm sure the total pic was @ that speed

If I was going to get a new car and was going for safety, I'd get a Toyota.

If you look closely at the Beemer, you will see that the damage is much worse than a quick glance reveals.
  • The trunklid matches the bodylines on the passenger side (US, that is), but it way off on the driver's side (serious body tourqe here folks)
  • The fender is warped just behind the rear wheel (man, is that chassis tourqed!)

You're lookin' at some serious bucks to get this body and chassis straight again!

Personally I would take a car that will fold up like that Ford anyday!
I would much rather have the car fold up than me!

Well, I am not happy about the way that Taurus looks. My wife drives one exactly like that everyday.

Jer

<EDIT> I guess I should add that we also just recently got our Tarus back from the body shop from my wife rear-ending somebody. Didn't look that bad, but I guess we were lucky.

well, while were speaking of car wrecks... this is what a chevy P/U looks like after a tire blows and you run off the road into the woods at 65Mph:

Glad to say, there wasnt a scratch on me Although I was sad to see her go... <sob sob>

At least I didnt get the paint job done yet, hehe

Yep, you're sorta right Kuasi.

I consulted with others @ this BBS and the guy who originally wrote the post. They said it needs new quarter panels, inner wheelwells, trunk floor and trunk panel. Nothing wrong with the frame, AFAIK. However, the owner said the "car drives as well as it was before the accident"....

...can't say the same for the Taurus
